The above images show the use of the sea surface model over a dam in the course of a river. The sea surface model is used to calculate the refraction of light at the water interface to allow the correct calculation of the depth of the seabed, and to enable correct classification of the data. Historically, jumps in the sea surface datum like this have been a very difficult and time consuming task to model, but with the tools in Leica Laser Survey Studio, combined with the expertise at Coastal Hydrographic, this task can be completed while doing the infield review of the data.
